Passenger numbers surge at Mount Isa Airport
Mount Isa Airport passenger numbers surged more than 9 per cent during May, a positive indicator for the regional economy.
Latest figures show a total of 19,299 passengers travelled during May,an increase of 9.2 per cent on May 2018 [17,678 passengers].
The results are reflective of increasing activity in the region, with the airport experiencing growth for 15 of the past 17 months.

QAL CEO Chris Mills said it was pleasing to see Mount Isa Airport continue the positive run of numbers.
“We were delighted to see the airlines are increasing capacity on their flights out of Brisbane,” he said.
“This upswing is occurring at a time when demand has been soft at other regions across Australia, so Mount Isa is well and truly punching above its weight.”
